However, it is less in older adults. Other factors that can cause traction alopecia is dreadlocks, telogen conversion, over use of hair products, use of strengtheners, dyes and bleaches, regular application of hot combs.

The traction alopecia symptoms in the early phase of this medicinal condition is dandruff, itching, and hair loss (when combing, big strands of hair coming out). These symptoms lead to permanent hair loss and scarring new hair follicle. Lots of people may feel pain or itchy sensation in the area where thinning hair has happened.

Traction alopecia symptoms in men are tenderness in the areas of the cheek or jaw. Other symptoms of this condition are pustules and scales on the scalp, perifollicular erythema, and patchy locations of hair loss. One of the many indicators is pitting in fingernails that is as a sign of severe traction alopecia in men and women.
